Physiotherapy (Greek. phýsis, nature + therapéia, treatment) – is combination of treatment methods based on physical impact: electrical current, magnetic radiation, heat, ultrasound, light and etc.

Goal of physiotherapeutic procedures is to promote healing and restoring of normal bodily functions after illness. Besides, physiotherapy helps to decrease number of exacerbations of chronic diseases.

Physiotherapeutic treatment in MediClub is being provided both for adults and children in two physiotherapeutic departments of MediClub Polyclinic and MediClub KIDS. A patient is being referred to doctor-physiotherapist by treating physician (GP or pediatrician) and individual physiotherapy treatment plan is being set up depending on diagnosis, state and age of a patient and associated diseases.

MediClub clinics provide following scope of physiotherapeutic procedures:

■ diadynamometry (Bernard’s current) – affecting muscles and nerve endings with low frequency current. This method has strong analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect;
■ Magnet therapy – treatment of various diseases by low frequency magnetic field;
■ Darsonvalization – treatment with high frequency current of low amperage;
■ Phonophoresis – a method of injection of medicines into body tissues through intact skin using ultrasound;
■ Electrophoresis (iontophoresis) - is one of the most frequently used physiotherapeutic procedures used for treatment of large number of diseases and implies injection of medicines into body tissues through intact skin using high frequency galvanic current;
■ Electromyostimulation (TENS-therapy) -method is based on electrical stimulation of muscles and nerves. It is used to restore contractual function of impaired nerves and muscles;
■ Infrared radiation – thermal procedure based on electromagnetic radiation. It is used with a goal of enhancing circulation and metabolism in tissues, as well as for suppressing pathogenic flora;
■ Microwave therapy is a physiotherapy using ultra-high frequency magnetic field. Administered for treatment of inflammation, trauma, radiculitis, neauralgia.

Along with physiotherapy treatment, MediClub clinics also provide rehabilitation of patients with diseases of nervous and musculoskeletal system and post-Covid rehabilitation.
